    So I run for boxing but I’m pretty overweight. 5’11 250 lbs. I get shin splints easily which sucks cuz I run hard for the boxing conditioning but I come out of it worse than most of my partners. I got some under armor Bluetooth shoes with the map my run app that tells me about my cadence, pace, speed, etc. to figure out what my ideal running pattern should be

    I have the Hykes Pinnacle and love them, best shoes I've ever owned and I will never go back to restricted regular shoes. After only a couple months my feet feel so much stronger.

    Nice and easy tempos. Don’t compare yourself to somebody else. Get max cushion shoes, wear light running gear and comfortable that can move and stretch with your body type.don’t pack on gear I.e. Fanny packs vests etc etc celebrate your progress and don’t give up and lastly take your recovery seriously or start a routine for recoveries. I started at 240. I went down to 160ish. Something to consider is incorporate weight training and if you are going to take supplements I used protein shakes and creatine nothing fancy.

    Definitely try and work something out with the Hackney half. The amount of people and attention at that event is crazy. Maybe a big lift before hand or something like that

    In addition to weight people fail to acknowledge differences in cardiovascular capacity. For some, running 0.5 miles may be more difficult than running 5 miles is for you.

    I prefer working solely in km as then I can use the maths of adding 1609m in multiples to distract me.

But let me parry you a little and I am not trying troll you or whatever and feel free to ignore this 2 penny thoughts. Why put the weight at all without the other details. Ie what was your goal to include it ? What tale were you telling ? I like the performance focus answer to bf manipulation etc I get it. I don’t truly have the complete answer it just seemed like only part of the story. But in the end it’s your story to tell and you go ahead and tell it - I’m looking forward to following it.

    Wow! 4 hrs 49 minutes, no training, that's awesome effort. Obviously, it was going to hurt, but it was a good hurt. Also, it's good you ran with a friend. I already ran two marathons and many halfs with training and finished. I am glad I trained.
